ČEPS bids farewell to Tošovský


With effect from yesterday, the supervisory board of TSC member ČEPS, the Czech transmission system operator (TSO), decided to remove Vladimír Tošovský (see picture) from both the position of a member and of the chairman of its board of directors. Tošovský led the company for nearly a decade with a short intermission, when he became the Czech Minister of Industry and Trade.

Karel Pícl, the vice chairman of the supervisory board and director of the operation and maintenance section, will move up to the board of directors. The new chairman will be elected by the members of the board at the earliest opportunity. The TSO’s supervisory board has also voted a new chairman: Jiří Maceška.

Swissgrid’s new CEO


Yves Zumwald is the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TSC member Swissgrid, the Swiss transmission system operator (TSO).The former head of the TSO’s business unit Grid has been appointed by the Board of Directors, effective immediately.

“Yves Zumwald is the ideal choice,” said Adrian Bult, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “He will lead Swissgrid into an era of consolidation and further development after a period of vigorous growth and grid takeovers.”

New board chairman at TSCNET Services


Dr. Rainer Pflaum, member of the Executive Board of TSC member TransnetBW GmbH, one of the four German transmission system operators (TSOs), is the new Chairman of TSCNET Services’ Supervisory Board, effective immediately. Mr Pflaum, previously Deputy Chairman, was named by the Supervisory Board and succeeds Mel Kroon, CEO of the Dutch-German TSO TenneT. The company’s Supervisory Board represents the shareholders and both supervises and advises the company’s management.

“As renewable energies add a larger and larger proportion of energy to the grid, TSCNET supports TSOs in Europe by rendering impactful services and encouraging a trans-national perspective in order to maintain and even improve the high standards of system security,” Mr Pflaum said. “For this purpose TSCNET combines  the expertise of all the companies cooperating. I look forward to promoting the consistent further development of TSCNET’s processes and services, and to contribute my share to further strengthening security of supply in Europe.”

Danish CEO appointed as president


Peder Østermark Andreasen, CEO of the Danish transmission system operator (TSO) and TSC member Energinet.dk, will take up the position as President of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) on 1 July 2015 for a two-year term. Andreasen wants to “focus on establishing even closer cooperation between the 41 TSOs from 34 countries as well as forging a stronger position for these TSOs”.
