“If we were meant to stay in one place, we’d have roots instead of feet.” This well-known quote is attributed to blogger Rachel Wolchin. So that we can use our feet in the best possible way, man has invented shoes. And now we also have a possible reason for the fact that Davide Fabozzi has changed location for almost every stage of his career: Davide was born in Vigevano, Italy, famous not only for its historic places and buildings, but also as Italy’s shoe capital. Davide graduated in Electrical Engineering at the University of Pavia in Italy, received his doctorate from the University of Liège in Belgium, then spent a year as Marie Curie Experienced Researcher Fellow at Imperial College in London, then worked as Application Developer at a German power system software and consulting company in the Swabian Alps and has now joined TSCNET Services in Munich as Senior Business Analyst in the Service Development team.
“Before starting at TSCNET, I worked mainly on the development of power system simulation algorithms, which were used by system operators to assess the ability of their system to withstand any plausible contingency,” Davide explains. More and more his work had aroused his interest in the actual operation of the energy system. “What I find interesting and challenging about electricity transmission networks is that power flows ‘know no border’ – you cannot tell a 100MW power flow to take a certain path.”
While the complex interconnection of Europe’s power grid opens up new opportunities to transfer large quantities of energy from renewable sources over long distances, the need for coordination is also increasing rapidly and operators are nowadays dependent on close cooperation based on partnership. Davide reminds the situation of a quote by John Donne, the leading English poet of the so-called Metaphysical school: “No European system is an island, entire in itself, every system is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.”
Davide’s desire to explore new horizons is a perfect match for TSCNET: “It has become a natural thing for me to be in a truly international environment like TSCNET. I like to become acquainted with new cultures and languages, and here there is an enormous choice!” And all this without moving – so the hiking shoes can be mothballed!
TSCNET Services has welcomed Davide Fabozzi as a new Senior Business Analyst in Team Service Development.
