ElSeC 2017, Conference on Electricity Security Coordination, in retrospect

In the wake of ElSeC 2017!
The Conference on Electricity Security Coordination (ElSeC) was a unique opportunity organised by ENTSO-E, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity, and TSCNET Services, the Munich-based Regional Security Coordinator of the Transmission System Operator Security Cooperation (TSC), to bring together leaders from European energy politics, TSOs, security initiatives and regulatory authorities.

Colleagues from across Europe and some of the most influential experts took the opportunity to connect on a day of insight, dialogue and networking. ElSeC 2017 on the 17th of October in Munich, the capital and largest city of the German state of Bavaria, provided a lot of inspiring speeches and presentations, and both many and varied contributions of leading figures in the European transmission grid community.

Keynote Speakers ElSeC 2017 in Munich had a powerful lineup of speakers with an exciting schedule of speeches. Each presentation addressed a different topic, but all were aimed at inspiring the audience.

Conference Moderator: Dr. Melinda Crane
We were glad to have such a dedicated and professional moderator: Dr. Melinda Crane. She has given speeches and moderated events and discussions for a wide range of organisations and companies. She is a frequent guest and commentator on television and radio. An experienced TV anchor, she is chief political correspondent at DW TV and hosts the DW talk show “Quadriga”. Dr. Crane studied history and political science at Brown University and law at Harvard. She wrote her dissertation at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. As International Affairs Consultant she produced interviews with Kofi Annan, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and George Bush, among others. Her broad journalistic experience includes work for the “New York Times Magazine”, “The Boston Globe”, and other newspapers and magazines.

Conference Location
The ElSeC 2017 conference was held in the heart of Munich at “Literaturhaus München” in Salvatorplatz 1. It is very close to the Marienplatz and within easiest reach of public transport.
Munich, home of TSCNET Services
Munich is the capital and largest city of the German state of Bavaria, with a population of around 1.6 million, a high standard of living, and an exceptional infrastructure. It was chosen as the perfect location for TSCNET Services at the heart of Europe.
Open Evening
at TSCNET premises
On Monday, 16th of October, we welcomed registered attendees to an open evening at the premises of TSCNET Services with snacks, drinks, and music.
The office is within easy reach by public transport.
Conference Dinner at “BLB”
The ElSeC 2017 dinner took place on Tuesday, 17th October, 7pm till late in the Burger & Lobster Bank at Prannerstraße 11, within close walking distance from the conference location. The credo of the both stylish and relaxed restaurant with a unique atmosphere: “The best of the sea meets the best of the earth.”
Uwe Zimmermann, one of the new Managing Directors of TSCNET Services, gave a speech during the dinner to thank both the participants and the ElSeC 2017 organising team – and to get the message accross: Let’s meet again – at TSCNET Services in Munich and at ElSeC 2018!
